Piston to wall clearance and ring gaps are set for moderate boost and NO Nitrous. If nitrous is going to be used on one of our engines you must inform us so that piston to wall clearances and ring gaps are increased accordingly. Failure to do so can result in premature engine damage.
When swapping an existing oil pan on to a new Z1 shortblock, the oil pan must be COMPLETELY cleaned of any and all metal contaminants. We prefer the oil pan be vatted and then rinsed and blown out thoroughly many times. It can be difficult and time consuming to get ALL the debris and sludge removed out from underneath the baffles and in particularly in the side chamber. Dents in the bottom of the oil pan can also cause oil starvation and engine damage. There is only a small space between the bottom of the oil pick-up tube and the floor of the pan. A dent in that spot can cause serious restriction in the amount of oil the pump can pull from the pan. Z1 Motorsports will not be held responsible for any damages to a Z1 shortblock due to oil starvation or contamination. We have new oil pans and vatted used oil pans available at extra cost.
