Since the inception of the 350Z, Nissan has utilized a fiberglass core support structure that has helped to reduce weight in the nose of the 350Z and 370Z. This design has also made the front of the chassis modular since the front core support structure and associated hardware must be removable for repair work.
The only down side to the fiberglass construction is that it is prone to fractures and breaks when accidents happen. Damage to the core support can also occur when the vehicle strikes certain road debris.
