Z1 Motorsports Short Ram Dual Intake for all '90+ Nissan 300zx models.
Designed as a simplified cold air intake system for the '90+ Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo's equipped with a Front Mount Intercooler, the Z1 Motorsports Short Ram Dual Intake removes feet of intake piping and creates a direct path of fresh air from the filter to the turbo. This is done by removing the factory intake pipes under the headlights along with the center air intake piping directly under the nose panel.
Past dual intake setups like the Doolz V.2 with the FMIC Extension piping added nearly four additional feet to the overall intake piping. Not only did this add extra weight to the nose of the already heavy Z32, but it also added much more clutter under the nose panel and reduced air velocity thru the intake piping.
By reducing the total length of the air intake piping and bends, the air has a direct path into the turbocharger. The filters are located in the factory side mount intercooler location, behind the fog lights and turn signals.
This intake also works great for Non-Turbo Z32's who want to really open up the air intake system and allow their engine to breath. For the Non-Turbo Z's, the total air intake piping length from the throttle bodies to the air filters is literally cut in half! Similar to the Twin Turbo FMIC applications, the N/A Z32 owners will benefit from the reduced clutter under the nose panel and a slight weight reduction due to the removal of the heavy, steel intake piping. This intake will work perfect with either an aftermarket, stock non-turbo fascia or twin-turbo fascia.
To properly install the Z1 Motorsports Short Ram Dual Intake system, owner will also need to purchase one of the following supporting items. These items can be purchased seperately or as a complete package below:
- Additional Z1 High Flow Intake Filters (Single or Double)
- Selin Dual Mass Translator (Extended Length Harness ONLY!!) ~OR~ Z1 Dummy Mass Air Flow Meter w/ EPROM Upgrade
It is also suggested that Non-Turbo Z32 owners also consider installing a set of Z1 Upgraded Throttle Bodies to take full advantange of the added air flow to the engine.
Please note:
- Twin Turbo owners WILL NOT be able to recirculate the blow off/bypass valves after installing the Z1 Motorsports Short Ram Dual Intake system.
- If you choose the Z1 Dummy Mass option, you will need to also select the appropriate ECU EPROM Upgrade for a Dual Intake:
If selecting EPROM upgrade please specify Year, Injector Size, Auto or Manual and Fuel Type in the comments section of your order. This option is for the EPROM chip only. We assume you already have an upgraded (socketed) ECU. If not please contact us to purchase an ECU upgrade. If you already have a Z1 Motorsports ECU upgrade, the dual intake EPROM upgrade is $50. This will be verified against our records. If you do not have a Z1 ECU upgrade you may select a Z1 EPROM upgrade for $100 with no core required.
- An ECU Eprom Upgrade is NOT needed to install the Selin Dual Mass Translator
- The optional Idle Air Balance kit is ONLY available for the Twin Turbo applications. DO NOT select this option if purchasing the kit for a Non-Turbo
