Short version: This intake is priced right, high-quality, and sounds amazing. If you want to awaken the Z and aren't after every last bit of NA power, this is the one to get. It is also CARB approved, and comes with a sticker. Detail: The reason I wanted to replace the factory intakes was to add character and volume to the engine sound, which was virtually nonexistent (especially through a helmet). I decided on this intake because the price undercuts Stillen and Z1 considerably, yet claimed potential power and torque increase is similar. I also wanted to avoid any cutting during installation. The parts arrived well-packaged, and there was evidence of QC procedure implementation (inspector "OK" signatures, weighed fasteners). Materials, welds, and finishes all appeared to be sound and free of defects. The company is based and operates in the US, for what it's worth. AFE Power engineering and manufacturing is located in Corona, CA. Installation was fairly straightforward. It was slightly difficult to squeeze the silicone elbows through the core support openings, but entirely possible. I also had to shorten one of the two replacement intake vacuum hoses. I do wish the kit came with SAE12 hose clamps, because the factory pinch clamps do not work with the new vacuum hoses. It was not clear which direction the filter should face (it is not symmetrical back-to-front), so I went with my intuition. However, all of this is minor. After installation, it felt like the Z had woken up. At idle and cruising, it is similar to stock, but it roars to life under load and high RPM. I had already installed a cat-back exhaust (HKS Hi Power - also highly recommended), yet this made a huge difference in the driving experience. I occasionally do track days, and now I can actually hear the engine note with a helmet on. Definitely worth the purchase.
