Product Description

Z1 Motorsports Brake Master Cylinder Brace is the premier and most affordable brake upgrade you can buy for your 370Z (Z34) or G37 Coupe (CV36; includes '14-'16 Q60) or Sedan (V36 sedan includes '07-08 G35 and '14 Q40). It is effective for Z's & G's either on the track or in traffic.  Increase brake response and driver confidence.

When pressing the brake pedal, the force applied is transferred through the pedal assembly and unto the firewall. Although reinforced, the firewall is still easily manipulated. Z1's Brake Master Cylinder Brace provides a halt to this flex by securing the Master Cylinder against a solid aluminum bracket fastened directly to the chassis.

If you are not convinced of the need for such an accessory, grab a friend and pop the hood or your Z. Remove any covers around your brake Master Cylinder. Have your friend sit in the driver's seat and press hard on the brake pedal a few times. Watch the Master Cylinder move towards the front of the car with each press of the pedal.

Unlike similar products, Z1's Brake Master Cylinder Brace is a simple bolt-on solution (no machining required!) and eliminates ALL of the firewall flex, giving you the quickest reaction time from when you press the brake pedal to when pressure is applied to the rotors. Makes a small difference, but temperamental to install if you’re doing it on a 370Z. Dropped several bolts before I got it in. Z1, if you’re listening, while this is a good idea (and I see the utility), it would be nice if there was a more user friendly way of installing this mod. Perhaps a different way of mounting it.

Getting the 3 bolts into the chassis is a challenge especially if your new to working on cars, but over all its a straight foward part. Immediate response after install. Just keep in mind you need a very short/stubby 19mm wrench to get the bolt adjusted properly. I recommend this mod if you want to enhance not only your braking feel on your car but overall driving experience.

This is just another fine example of Z1s outstanding engineering & commitment performance. The fitment is very good, although the middle fastening bolt doesn't exactly line up on my G37, but realistically you only need the 2 outer bolts to secure this master cylinder brace & I used blue Threadloc to make sure they don't loosen over time. Installation requires some patience because you're working in a rather tight space, but is really quite straight forward, requiring only basic mechanical tools. After which you can really feel the difference in braking, you truly don't know how much your master cylinder moves around until secure it against the firewall. A++

Prevents brake master cylinder from being pushed forward by the firewall. You will realize how much it moves around only after you install it and notice a more confidence inspiring brake pedal. Honestly the most annoying part to install, worse than the OEM engine harness. I highly recommend removing the the brake lines from the master to abs module to install this. Also check the three chassis nuts and tap if necessary before installing.

It's a tight fit but I was able to get this installed after some struggling. Make sure you get the proper extensions and swivet socket to make it easier. I was unable to bolt down the middle bolt since the threads were not seating correctly and I did not want to ruin the threads but 2/3 bolts isn't bad right? I do notice that the master cylinder doesn't have as much play when stomping on the brake pedal so that visually works but I'm not one hundred percent convinced that I notice stiffer braking. There is some piece of mind knowing that the brace is there to assist in hard braking scenarios.

I got this as an addition to my akebono sport brake upgrade. But I did notice the master cylinder flex long before and knew I would eventually add this brace. It works as designed and takes nearly all the flex out of your master cylinder. I noticed and immediate difference after install. Install is a major pain in the *ss. You WILL have a difficult time installing this piece unless you actually take out the brake booster and master cylinder. It took me about 1.5hrs just to get all 3 screws started. And another half hour to tighten them all down. I would recommend using loctite on these screws as well. You’ll never take it out anyway.

This product took a little time, you need small hands and I found out the hard way that you can not use the middle hole, it will not line up on 09 G37 2dr sport, I think it is for the 370Zs. It did not say that in the instructions, that is why I gave it a 3 star

I have not been to the track to test this to make sure it stiffens up the master cylinder, but It looks professional sitting near my firewall, and I feel good knowing that my brakes will be more responsive.

Installed on my 08 G37S couple. Good, solidly made part. Could feel the difference immediately after installing it. Install was a bit of a pain due to the tight area, but using a flexible hex bit extension made it easier. I was unable to get the middle screw in, but it feels plenty solid with just the two.

Highly suggested! Grab a buddy and push the brakes to see how much “flex” you have without it. A bit tough to install, so I would suggest 10m bolts to ease the install, and various flexible sockets to make it happen. I think it’s a 2-3 hour effort. Lots of videos on YouTube.

I was slightly skeptical of the amount of improvement this brace would provide. After installing I noticed that the brake pedal is more linear, leading to more confident braking. Install took longer than expected at a little over 2 hours due to the amount of room. I am glad the bolts are steel so that they can be picked by a magnet. Once I removed the vacuum sensor bracket and hose I was able to get my hand underneath the master cylinder (automatic) and grab any parts and have more room to turn the allen wrench. A lot of reviews state that the middle bolt didn't work for them. Seeing the slot I was expecting no issues. Unfortunately, it seemed that the bolt did not want to thread into the hole on the false firewall. I am slightly concerned that the brace may put too much force on the brake line, but there is a rubber protector around the line so perhaps it will be okay. Works better than expected, even with only 2 bolts, and I would recommend it to everyone.

Definitely improves braking performance, bit of a pain to install but definitely not impossible with the correct tools, the only issue i have with it is i was unable to install the centre bolt as the hole in the brace itself is in the wrong place so half the thread on the hole is covered up, reading other reviews this seems like a common issue that z1 should fix

Seems like a good piece, have not track tested yet, but there was zero flex just sitting there parked and pressing on pedal. Was a super pain to install, very little room to work. 3 holes in brace but only 2 holes line up with threaded holes on car. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Supplied bolts did not thread into existing holes. If you have kids have them install it, small arms and hands make it easier. Only giving 3 stars because haven't tested on track yet to feel if any difference in brake pedal feel.

Had to modify the middle hole with a drill bit to get all 3 screws mounted correctly with the chassis points. Stronger braking feeling and confident action. Can't wait to combine this upgrade with better rotors/pads down the line!

Installed on a 2009 Infiniti G37S Sedan. Before this part was installed you could notice the brake master flexing on the firewall when applying the brakes. Now the flex is gone and the brake pedal is more direct. Almost like less slack in it. Great part!

Greatly improves the consistency of pedal feel. I can pretty much stand my entire weight on the brakes without noticing any firewall flex. Installation is pretty tedious on this one due to tight accessibility. Keep your stick magnet close.

Good brace, however, I believe mine came with an issue with either the bolt or the some holes. I have read the same in 370z forum that many people saying the installation was not 100% completed (all three bolts in place). it was really challenging but finally I did work-around and fixed it to support the brake master cylinder.

Well it took me about an hour and a half to install. The screws were a pain to get in but if you tape the screw to the tip of the hex and finesse it in it’ll work. I was only able to get 2 out of the 3 in. I found removing the brake master cylinder connectors and one vacuum line will give you a little more space to work. Stopping power I noticed but I wouldn’t say I noticed it significantly. I believe you would have to also install stainless steel brake lines and fresh brake fluid.

This part is very complicated to install no matter how you look at it, It fits decently, but the real problem is getting to it with your hands and small tools. Ideally, if you can find a small child that is smart, midget, or a dwarf to get in there, the job would be easier. I was able to get all 3 screws in, but the middle thread was stripped on my car, so i had to go to the hardware store and find a screw that would fit.

This is a quality product that takes about an hour to install with some small hands, patience, and a 5mm hex. I would like to note this is a mod that you probably won't notice by itself but combined with some stainless steel brake lines and fresh fluid, you can feel a much stronger initial bite.

At first, the install was a pain, but using the practice of putting blue tape into the socket that fits the bolts to secure them while sideways helped. It helped with the short travel of my break pedal now. I have to be cautious not to push as hard as before because the travel is so short.

The brace has been in my Z for 3 years now, it started with OEM brake lines w/ iron semi floating calipers and a smaller diameter brake discs, to stainless lines, aluminum floating calipers and a bigger brake rotors. Without the brace there is a flex when applying the brakes really hard. But now including the other upgrades the feel is more on careful brake modulation, feels really nice personally.

Had trouble with a soft feeling pedal ever since I got the car. Even after 4 rotors, brake pads, 2 new calipers, and a new brake master cylinder it still wasn't as stiff as I wanted it. After throwing this in I can definitely feel a difference in the pedal! Just need the SS lines and better fluid(which Z1 also has) and the brakes will finally feel brand new again!

Well worth the small investment. The brace does an excellent job of limiting master cylinder movement. Installation went reasonably well. I followed others' advice and placed a rag in the bottom of the compartment....yes, you will drop things. A flexible magnetic pick-up tool comes in handy as does the recommended ball-end Allen bit. As always, read and follow the printed directions.

An inexpensive mod with huge return. The amount of firewall flex that is eliminated with this is mind blowing. Brake pedal feel is nice a responsive, no more mush. Why wouldn't you buy this when it costs less than $100 :)

Works absolutely perfectly and as intended. You will feel a noticeable change in the brake peddle. The instructions provided suck and need to be updated. The large bolt does not come pre-installed in the brace and the instructions to not let you know to install the bolt BEFORE installing the brace. The three small screws are extremely difficult to install and if you drop one where you can't find or see it, you are SOL as it only comes with the three.

I just installed this, this weekend and I immediately felt the difference. The car 2010 370Z With sport brakes I could tell the difference, the car stopped sooner and was more consistent, the pedal didn't sink in like it used to. But over all it is well worth it Install might be a bitch if you have big hands but other than that I definitely recommend this product.

Recently installed the brace on my 08 g37 coupe. I couldn't believe how much improvement this brace makes. My brake pedal feel is VERY sharp! I currently have z1 SS brake lines, motul 600 brake fluid and akebono ultra-premium ceramic brake pads. I can't until i install my Z1 2-piece rotors. Thank you Z1 for designing this piece for a low cost.

I added this to my 370 and could tell an instant improvement in brake response and pedal feel. Compared to the SS brake lines I put on before I think this felt like a greater upgrade.
