Product Description
Anyone that builds engines has probably had to do a valve spring swap in the vehicle. It’s not pretty at best and a full-on disaster if you lose a retainer lock in the engine while struggling to hold a lever arm compressor in one hand and removing retainer locks with the other. This tool allows a single technician to replace valve springs in a safe and professional manner without removing the cylinder heads from the vehicle. By incorporating a modified follower bucket to compress each spring, the retainer locks can be set on top of the follower and moved safely into place with no chance of falling in the engine, leaving both hand free to precisely complete the job. It can also be used with heads off the engine. Worth every penny even if you only use it once! Fits most Nissan VQ, KA, QR, & VK Engines.

Great tool, easy to use, extremely convenient. Cut the job by half, and made it way safer to place the retainers without them flying.

Fit and finish perfect. Well made tool. The concept however could use a little more engineering. The. Idea is to mount this over one piston and remove all 4 valve springs. The problem is that once you get the keepers out, you can't get the imitation lifter and spring out from under the tool after releasing the knob. So you have to remove the block from the mount for each spring. Otherwise it works really well no flying keepers!

This tool was a lifesaver. I bought other tools that were supposed to be good for changing valve seals while the head was still on the block but they were trash. This tool was easy to use and worked perfectly. My only suggestion would be to do something with the black knobs, they just fall off and are inconvenient. I ended up taking them off. Combined with the compressed air valve holder this made valves a breeze. The $100 was well worth it.

Pretty great tool to have, made top end work very easy. I knocked a star off for 2 reasons:
The knobs started coming loose after only 12 valves. I'm sure brake clean and some super glue would fix this, but I ended up using my impact driver (carefully) on the 10mm bolts and like that more.
It only came with one bucket. This is fine, but it just slows the mechanic down a little bit.
An improvement may be to increase the height of the tool. On VQ35DE heads the tool has to be dismounted to remove the valve spring once the keepers are removed.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchased, the tool is worth every dollar and made top end work a breeze.
