300ZX 2.5" "4 Bolt" Stainless Steel Downpipes

starstarstarstarstar 5/5 - (1 Reviews)
Fits models: 300ZX

Product Description

2.5" Stainless Steel downpipes in a 4 bolt flange to fit stock flange type turbos, including OEM turbos, JWT Sport 500, Z1 Motorsports GT500, and Z1 Motorsports GT525 kits. These downpipes feature a large diameter 50mm (2.0") turbine pipe for optimal flow and lack or interference when used with upgraded turbos that utilize bored out stock turbine housings.

The design of these downpipes caters to the dynamics that take place just after the turbine. By seperating the exhaust flow of the turbine from the flow of gases exiting the wastegate, less interference is experienced by the system. This means that more energy is put into spooling up the turbo rather than heating up the exhaust piping after it.

These downpipes dramatically increase spoolup, and show increases in power output as well! In addition to this design, we have taken it one step further to include an additional O2 sensor bung on each downpipe for use with wideband oxygen sensors. Most dyno shops charge at least $40 for the installation of one of these and they aren't going to be treating the bare metal of their welding after the install. These have the bung professionally tig welded to the tube and the entire assembly is coated. Pipes are manufactured from polished 304 Stainless Steel. These downpipe sets use a larger diameter pipe for the turbine collector to better match the diameter of an upgraded turbine wheel. This improves flow and reduces backpressure after the turbine to enhance performance and spoolup.

(2) turbo to downpipe gaskets are included.

Questions our customers have asked

Hello, can i install in JDM version? thanks.
You can use this on JDM vehicles if you are adding test pipes, but the Z1 Downpipes will not connect to the factory JDM spec catalyst. You can add test pipes to these here (Link)

I was a skeptic and all I can say is "Wow." Pros in no particular order: MUCH lighter than original precats Slight increase in throaty tone of motor. If you're worried about noise, don't be. I have a sound meter and didn't bother getting it out because the volume increase won't even be noticed with most people. noticeable increase in low RPM spool around town. Not huge. Faster spooling in high RPMs. At highway speeds in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear, the turbo spools MUCH faster. It lights up above 4000RPMs. Additionally, my boost gauge had been showing a max boost of 7.5 (no codes, just an old engine), but after swapping on these downpipes I'm just under the 3rd positive tick mark on the boost gauge, presumably the stock max of 9.5PSI. This product is not supposed to increase boost, and don't expect it to take you above stock pressure, but this just shows that the flow of these pipes is much less restrictive. No more ticking of contracting heat shield noise from the precats after you park. This may be the best part. Just silence and a good looking Z'. Don't worry about removing heat shileding here. I think these ones are more about keeping heat in as the precats warm up. Cons: Mechanical noise increased. I can only hear it when driving with windows down, next to a sound reflective surface. Its not a bad sound, you just may not like it.
