Product Description

The Z1 Mild Performance Clutch Kit is our recommended clutch solution for all Naturally Aspirated 350Zs or G35s equipped with the VQ35DE engine. This clutch cannot be used with VQ35HR (dual throttle body) engines.

All of our Z1 Clutch Kits come complete with a genuine Koyo release bearing, pilot bushing, and alignment tool in addition to the pressure plate and friction disc. The pressure plate in this kit exceeds OEM specifications with equal clamping force resulting in no change in pedal feel. The standard full faced friction disc is made with an upgraded organic metallic material that will provide good wear and great engagement. For increased torque capacity a sprung hub ceramic six puck disc is available as an option below. As with any puck style friction disc, engagement will become more aggressive due to higher coefficient of friction of the ceramic pucks grabbing more and slipping less than an organic metallic full faced disc. Overall this clutch will hold up to engines producing 350 ft/lbs of torque or less. Longevity of this clutch will ultimately depend on driving style.  We recommend the Z1 Performance Street Clutch for forced induction applications.

Very well made clutch. 6 pluck is great at gripping, and performed excellent at the drag. Only down side is that when the clutch wants to catch, it wants to launch you, so not very street friendly and alot if getting use to for normal driving. It has lasted me over 3 years with casual dragging and plenty of abuse. Be ready to feel like you're learning stick all over with the 6 pluck, but it's worth it.

Great product , perfect fit and feels great with good engagement. Personally i feel like this kit should come with a throwout sleeve as well with the bearing which is one problem i ran into upon my repair, having to wait for another local parts store to have one available to continue .

This clutch I cannot give an unbiased review on. I personally really like Z1's products. With that being said, I bought this clutch originally to get me by for a bit. Unfortunately, the garage I had taken my 2002/2003 350z Touring to was an inadequate garage, when it came to installing clutches. After following the proper break-in period and procedures, as recommended by Z1, I ended up having to have this entire clutch replaced! The garage that initially installed the clutch did such a horrible job that my Z literally chewed up and spat out this clutch in under 1,000 miles. It was destroyed! I had my 2nd clutch, the Z1 Street Performance Clutch, installed by my local speed shop. They showed me all the stuff the other garage didn't do, as well as ruined. Things like, never greased anything, cleaned it, the pilot bearing was scarred and in crooked, the throw out bearing was scarring the housing, you name it! This was after Z1 even tried to assist the garage on how to install it. And this was a clutch/transmission shop!! Lesson learned. Make sure you research who installs your aftermarket equipment for you, if you are either unable to, don't have the room to, or just don't have the time to, do it yourself!! Hats off to Z1 for trying to help those guys though who apparently never installed anything other than OEM stamped on it!

This kit was installed with the new six-shooter engine mount and transmount. The feel of the car during shifts are precise. I can see it makes you feel one with the car. This kit made me love driving more.

(I will be updating my review after the installation of the clutch) Z1 are liars! I ordered my clutch on 13 May 2020, and I selected standard shipping, which takes 5-7 business days, and to top it off, we are in a global pandemic. It is noon on Friday, 15 May 2020, and I just got my clutch in, a full 3-5 days ahead of when they said it would be delivered! This is an outrage! How dare you put the needs of your customers above all else?! But in all seriousness, I just opened up the package and I am very pleased with the results. The clutch disc I selected was the six-puck sprung hub, because it was only $50 extra. The build quality on the components is second to none, and the pressure plate appears to be powder coated instead of just painted. It weighs significantly less than I had expected, but the friction material on the disc is much thicker than I thought it would be, which hopefully translates into a very long service life. I did not opt for the new clutch line, because the previous owner installed a ss line. I will be making all of my future G35 purchases from Z1.

I'm very pleased with this clutch kit especially for the price! The quality in the feel and engineering is very apparent. I’ve added a lot of power and developed a 2nd gear wheel spin problem. My old stock clutch, would pause while my wheels spun when I grabbed second and allowed my opponent to creep on me. So I expected to have more wheel spin with the new clutch. But, I actually have way less, it hooks up better with less wheel spin and puts power to the ground. I grab 2nd hard now, there’s a loud chirp, a hard right-side kick like the car is digging into the pavement, the wheels spin just a little but hook-up. Now the shift launches me forward in the race. It’s really great. The pedal also feels lighter than my stock clutch was and something about the way the engagement curve works makes rev-matching much easier. It seems like the clutch engages loosely, almost with intentional slip right at the beginning and then rather than continuing a linear engagement path like my stock clutch did, it curves sharply and hooks up quick and hard. So as I’m rev-matching it slips and as by the time I’m apexed, it’s digging in and propelling me out of the corner all with a very easy & light feel. It removes a lot of physical effort and adds more fun and speed. I also added a lightweight flywheel, NISMO pilot need bearing pilot bushing, and strengthened clutch arm &pivot ball and I'd absolutely recommend this combo to everyone. The power increases is measurable and the performance gain was unexpectedly complimentary to the other power adders I’ve got. All parts on my car: Injen Intake – NWP 75 Mil Throttle Body - Skun2 Plenum Spacer – DC headers – Stillen Y Pipe – Energy Suspension Bushings – StopTech Crossed Drilled & Slotted Rotors & pads – Stillen Lightweight Flywheel – Z1 Performance Clutch Kit – NISMO needle bearing Pilot Bushing – Z1 Strengthened Clutch Arm & Pivot Ball.

I had to purchase this separately with the 6 puck clutch because stock pressure plate could not handle clutch disc. This is a great combination and it hooks, now if only wheels could....

i am quite pleased with the quality of this clutch kit. it grips just like i need it too, and keeps the stock pedal feel. Overall, for the price i highly recommend this clutch to anyone who is in the early stages of building or just wants a better than stock replacement.
