Product Description

The subframe on your 350Z / G35 is designed to blend comfort with performance, using soft rubber bushings on all four mounting positions. These bushings work well for a car driven in a stock environment, but when your car is subject to the harsh power transfer that takes place in drifting, circuit, or drag racing they leave a bit to be desired. Solid subframe bushings are available, but changing these is no easy feat and requires that the subframe is completely removed and factory bushings are cut out, and the compromises they bring make them less than ideal for most street or dual-use cars. This is an expensive and time-consuming repair.

Keeping these challenges in mind the Z1 R&D team put their minds to work and began developing a simple and cost-effective, yet easy to install solution. 

Why is subframe rigidity important?

Maintaining subframe rigidity in relation to the chassis helps maintain suspension geometry when under suspension load or drivetrain torque, helping reduce harsh and harmful wheel hop. Z1 Subframe Bushing Collars take up slop developed by old stock rubber subframe bushings, to yield a more responsive and direct suspension while reducing wheel hop on aggressive launches.

These 8 piece aluminum collars install above and below each of the four bushings and retain the stock anti-squat geometry. Installation can be completed in your driveway without any special tools, making this the most cost-effective solution. Because OEM rubber bushings are retained this offers minimal compromise in driving comfort and NVH.

They work great. I don't notice any difference with throttle transition like most do, but gear shifts are easier and somehow the shift knob now vibrates less than stock?! Launching hard or even just enthusiastically from standstill is much better. Less play in the drivetrain. Best of all, I don't have to correct mid-turn on track days. Definitely easier to install than replacing the bushes entirely but the estimation of 30-60 min is a bit optimistic if you are doing this at home on jackstands. The instructions could be a bit more detailed regarding this, maybe with a diagram of how to orient the rear top collars. Even when oriented correctly, if the subframe is not lowered perfectly level, the top collars won't just slip in. This was probably die to me supporting the subframe at the differential instead of the frame itself causing the subframe to lean backward. I wouldn't say there's a noticable increase in NVH but you do hear some drivetrain whine when accelerating flat out. I actually enjoy the sound. This is on a stock suspension 2008 350Z with Z1 urethane differential bush.

These are an insanely important and easy upgrade to your car, I would say do this first before any of the rest. We started with differential bushings and transmission bushing, which both made a huge difference and made the care get character, however the rear subframe bushings make such a big difference in eliminating the wheel hop and bring the car together on the track, it is a must have, and probably by it self would have been my first choice to get if you couldn't buy all 3. If you can afford all 3, get all them before you do anything else to your car.

If you are planning on doing your differential bushings make sure you order these subframe collars as well. It is MUCH easier to install these when the differential is out of the subframe (hopefully while you are installing new differential bushings). I installed these collars along with Z1's solid differential bushings and a 1 piece driveshaft. The rear end is so much stiffer and you feel connected to the road. Wheel hop is a thing of the past. A great chassis upgrade that ACTUALLY makes a difference. GET THESE!

I love these subframe collars. They were easy to install after I watched the z1 Motorsports video. Longest part was jacking up the vehicle for the jack stands. You can feel the difference in subframe support for sure.

Amazing product, have installed this on my pro am drift car 350z and my freinds drift car 350z.... this is a must have no excuses not to do it yourself just like the instructions say it should only take you 30 min to lower the subframe, install, then tighten it back up! Used to break cv axles all the time, it’s been about a year since I’ve installed these and I’m on the same axels!!!! Feels just like having solid diff bushings especially if you have true coil overs and z1 diff bushings! Eliminated my wheel hop completely!! Used to hate that thud in the rear end when dumping the clutch from a dig or clutch kicking durning or initiation of a drift. Used to have a 4ft tall pile of broken cv axles! Lol! Thanks Jon and everyone at z1 for making this simple but yet amazing product!

One of the best "bang for buck" upgrades you can do your G or Z IMO. I've fit these onto my M35 Stagea (JDM wagon which uses the same rear subframe) and the improvement is night and day. The inserts tightened up the response of the rear end of the car and completely remove the sloppiness that could be felt in fast left-right transitions. Steering is now more direct and you turn into the corner once instead of turning in and then correcting once the rear end has "penguin-shuffled" about. Whether or not you've already upgraded springs/shocks/sway bars these inserts will produce an immediately noticeable improvement while only increasing road noise/vibrations slightly. Couldn't imagine going back to how the car was before!

I had to chime in on these. They are great! I noticed a difference immediately on my '03 and they are well worth the effort. Speaking of effort, don't let anyone tell you it's a half hour job! My bushings had some flashing from the molding process that hindered my ability to drop in the right rear upper piece. I aligned it the best I could by looking up through the bushing and it went together as planned. I'm a good mechanic who's very capable, but 30 minutes is really not feasible unless you have a new car on the lift with all the tools laid out. For the rest of us, you better plan an hour or more.

After 2 runs on the track, the rear end of my G35 is a lot more predictable. Oversteer is just perfect. I didn't expect a change that much. Great investment same if he took me 6 hours to install. Great product guys at Z1.

this definitely improved my 60ft at the drag strip. makes the rear end more solid and makes launching the car way better. i would recommend this for the money!
