The factory oil pan on the 1.5L VC-Turbo engine is made of plastic and features a threaded brass insert for the drain plug. During routine oil changes or engine service, it's common for this insert to spin inside the plastic housing, resulting in stripped threads, oil leaks, or the need to replace the entire pan. Nissan’s revised solution replaced the threaded insert with a disposable plastic quarter-turn drain plug, requiring replacement at every service — a temporary fix at best.
Z1’s solution replaces the factory plastic pan with an aluminum oil pan, offering long-term durability and a proper threaded steel drain plug that ensures reliable, worry-free oil changes. The drain port has been repositioned to correct a flaw in the OEM design that leaves behind approximately 0.35L of used oil during changes. With the Z1 pan, all oil drains fully — promoting cleaner oil cycles and better long-term engine health. Additionally, the pan increases total capacity by 0.15L, boosting overall oil change volume by 0.5L when combined with the filter.
