Nissan Frontier 75mm Throttle Body Kit by Z1 Off-Road

Quick and easy install. Noticeable difference in performance. Will recommend

I had purchased my Frontier with a KN cold air intake already installed. But it was old and tiring and I really want to maximize efficiency and my mpg's. I know, I know, wrong truck but still every little bit of improvement makes me happy! I decided to pickup their cold air intake and this 75mm throttle body at the same time. While I miss the noise the kn unit made and find the z1 unit a little tinny sounding I'm thrilled with the results of this big bore throttle body. I noticed an immediate gain in mpg's and once the computer adjusted I'm up about 1.5 mpgs on the highway. The true amazement is the driveability. I have this crazy long steep hill on my daily commute. Before I could chug up it in 4th gear around 30 mph with minimal speed gain when applying a little extra throttle. The 75mm now allows me to accelerate and zip right up it. I feel as though I could probably chug up in it 5th now. While in 4th I can absolutely say without a second thought it's so much smoother and less boggy. The engine is definitely happier. If you are on the fence and thinking it isn't going to be worthwhile then I hope this review eases your mind. Install notes, make sure the engine is cool as you have a coolant hose running to the TB. I cracked my radiator cap and also the reservoir to be sure there wasn't pressure in the system and didn't lose any coolant. I could do the install again in about 20 minutes but plan on an hour if you are particular. Also, go get yourself a few new hose clamps, bring their supplied hose with you so you know what size to get. The stock clamps are a very tight fit, usable but it'll be easier with a better fitting clamp. Cheers!!

The combo of the throttle body and upgraded coils did more for the low end throttle response than anything I've ever seen. After adding around 35lbs per wheel of tire weight, this got me back to around stock feel when starting from a stop, which I didn't think was going to be possible. These are numbers that won't show up on a dyno because they're in a RPM range far too low to measure, but these make a huge difference. In hindsight, these are the first things I would modify on this platform regardless of stock wheels or not, the benefits are immediately apparent and benefit literally all RPMs unlike almost any other bolt on part outside of forced induction you can put on these. Installation and the volume and position relearning takes around 20 - 30 minutes total even if you have to research how to do the relearn procedures. 100% worth it on both these upgrades.

Have you put on every single bowl time you can imagine to your VQ40DE? Are you still wanting a little bit more power and don't necessarily want to put a supercharger on your vehicle? That I highly recommend this throttle body. It is essentially a Maxima throttle body and still has the OEM taper giving the nice Venturi effect that is preferred by most oems. Z1 even included a very nice coupler for the intake that allows an even greater Venturi effect versus most aftermarket couplers. Having this combined with the Z1 intake, is he one intake manifold spacer, Z1 high energy ignition coils, jba short tube headers, Dynomax Cat-Back exhaust with turbo muffler, Z1 snorkel and cyclone pre cleaner and last but not least effective tuning from Z1 with UpRev and you have very nice power output to the wheels. It's almost like this is the last piece to the puzzle before forced induction.

I've had the throttle body on for about a year. I installed it at the same time as the intake manifold spacer. After install, I re-tuned to 93 octane. Works great and my throttle response has improved.

A simple install that made a noticeable difference in the low/mid range. Exactly the area where these D40's benefit. Quality part, quick shipment.

Easy to install. Made a nice difference to partial and mid throttle. Paired with a z1 intake/snorkel, and an uprev tune. This is a modification that's worth the money. Helped smooth out the "lag" in low rpm when you punch it. Just buy it...
