DIGITAL DESIGN FOR THE REAL WORLD

The design of our carbon fiber side skirts began by digitizing the body of the Z using advanced 3D scanning technology. This allowed our team of engineers to work in a digital space only limited by the imagination. Determining the best skirt profile took place after a thorough analysis of the Z's body shape. This allowed us to create a side skirt profile that complements the complex body lines of the Z while enhancing its visual appeal. Creating the surface model directly from the scan data allowed our team to ensure that the skirt design fit the side profile of the car precisely and matched the styling of other Z1 carbon fiber aero parts.

One of the primary goals achieved in the design was to create a skirt profile that offered low protrusion but maintained a high visual impact. This was done to prevent the driver and/or passengers from stepping on or contacting the side skirt when exiting the car, a problem many have experienced with other aftermarket side skirts. Additionally, ground clearance on the sides of the car only changes by a few millimeters, leaving plenty of room for floor jacks or lift arms on cars with moderately lowered ride heights.
