Z1 350Z / G35 Ultimate R200 Differential Parts Kit includes everything you need to completely revamp your differential. If you are going to remove the differential why not only do it once? Complete with all new bearings and seals to ensure an easy and proper installation.
Differential Type
Z1 S-Pro (Helical LSD Type)
The Z1 S-Pro addresses these shortcomings without giving up great street manners. The S-Pro is a helical differential that is a dramatic improvement over open & viscous differentials given its considerably greater ability to distribute torque at both wheels. With its internal gear design, it boasts exemplary street manners and is operationally quiet when compared to clutch type differentials that tend to chatter or clunk when cornering at low speeds because of axle bind. The Z1 S-Pro differential is a helical unit that exhibits no axle bind and provides smooth operation in any circumstance. Because of the internal construction, the Z1 S-Pro is low maintenance (only regular fluid service intervals) and ensures an exceptional life span with no special fluids or friction modifiers needed.
Z1 R-Pro (Clutch Type)
The R-Pro is a 1.5-way clutch-type differential engineered for superior torque distribution to both wheels. As a 1.5-way unit, it provides more aggressive locking under acceleration while allowing controlled slip under deceleration, enhancing cornering stability without excessive resistance. The carefully tuned progressive ramp angles ensure just the right amount of tire slip when off-throttle while maintaining full lock when power is applied. Clutch-type LSD's are always at least partially locked. This means if lifting a tire on-track, both tires still receive torque. This is important, at least when compared to viscous or helical LSD's, which act like an open-differential when you lift a tire.
Clutch-type differentials are often associated with noise and clunking at low speeds due to high preload and aggressive ramp angles. The R-Pro minimizes these drawbacks through precision-machined ramp faces and cam geometry. This design allows for a moderate preload, delivering balanced street manners without sacrificing track performance. Additionally, the tight tolerances between the ramp face and cam ensure a fast, responsive transition between throttle states, eliminating the latency found in many clutch-type differentials.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that this installation is done by a competent and experienced driveline shop. Incorrect gear pattern, out-of-spec back-lash or pre-load will result in accelerated wear, noise, etc.
If you choose to locate a driveline shop for installation, we recommend purchasing new side bearing and side axle seals. As a convenience, this has been included as an option below. (Different spec side shims may be needed for install - available separately HERE).
Stub Axles
Z1 S-Pro & R-Pro differentials are designed to use 2 Short LSD Stub Axles. You can add Heavy Duty Z1 Stub Axles by adding additional parts before adding to cart.
Models with a stock open differential will require 2 short stub axles.
Models with a stock LSD will require 1 short stub axle if you plan on reusing the factory short stub (or Left side from the drivers perspective).
Final Drive
Get the most noticeable increase in acceleration and response comes from simply re-gearing the differential in your car. By changing the input and output ratio on the ring and pinion, the car is able reach higher speeds in each gear. These gears will fit 03+ model differentials, manual transmission model cars only, and will increase acceleration. This of course comes at a trade off of higher cruise speed RPM and decreased fuel mileage.
Please note that installing a ring and pinion requires precision setting of the bearing pre-load and clearances to complete the job. When installing be sure to keep the factory shims in their respective locations. Shims should not need to be changed.
These Limited Slip Differentials are only compatible with manual class final drive ratios like the 3.54, 3.69, 3.90, & 4.09. If you are unsure of your current gear ratio for your 350Z or G35 please take a look at the Gear Ratio Chart found HERE.
