The VTC assemblies are responsible for controlling the variable valve timing on all VK engines. If you're looking at these parts, chances are you're suffering from the dreaded P0011 / P0012 fault codes that occur when the VTC assemblies fail. This often results in loss of power, poor running condition, no-start conditions, illuminated Check Engine Light, and a variety of other symptoms. Unfortunately, these parts cannot be repaired and must be replaced to restore proper operation.
