This Evaporative Emissions Canister is located behind the rear tires on all 2009-2015 Nissan Maxima and 2007-2012 Nissan Altima 3.5L models and is used to control the flow of harmful vapors in the fuel system, and prevent them from being purged back into the atmosphere.
Because these canisters are located under the vehicles, they are commonly damaged in rear and side impact collisions and may be damaged from rocks or other road debris. When this canisters are damaged, they can result in a Check Engine Light illumination and various associated codes.
