Z1 Motorsports Urethane Rear Differential Bushing Set

starstarstarstarstar 5/5 - (45 Reviews)
Fits models: 350Z / 370Z / G35 / G37 / Q60 2014-2016

Product Description

The large stock rubber fluid filled bushing in the rear subframe of 350Z, G35, 370Z, & G37 models is prone to failure.  It is common to see evidence of the silicone fluid leaking out of the busted bushing characterized by black stains on the subframe below the bushing.  The stock rear bushing is soft to isolate drivetrain vibrations, however performance is compromised especially after the bushing fails resulting in excessive differential movement reducing torque transfer and eventually causing a thud or knocking noise between shifts.  The stock rear bushing is part of the rear subframe assembly and not available for purchase separately.

In addition to the rear bushing, there are smaller bushings in the front mount ears of the differential to secure it to the subframe assembly.  The front bushings are not as prone to failure but can wear out due to excessive play after failure of the rear bushing.  When these bushings wear out, the differential twists under load which can result in wheel hop, increased chassis vibration, damage to the rear differential cover, and excessive axle wear.

After several years of research, installing and comparing other solutions on the market, Z1 is now proud to offer replacement solutions for rear differential bushings that deliver the best in fitment and performance.  Due to some problems we have experienced with other products we have specified a high temperature urethane formulation to prevent the bushing from deterioration under extreme heat often experienced on the track.  The Z1 bushing is the optimal length to fill the hole in the rear subframe in order to provide the most contact area while not protruding out the ends.  Our bushing includes a press in steel sleeve that locks the urethane securely in place without the need to remove the existing stock steel sleeve from the original bushing.  We also offer a Z1 solid aluminum rear differential bushing set for enthusiasts willing to trade some drivetrain noise and vibration for torque transfer and control.

Z1 Motorsports differential bushings aren't just a repair item, they're an essential upgrade for enthusiasts from daily drivers to the weekend track warrior. Z1 bushings are engineered to provide the user with a product that fits like OEM at a fraction of the price while maintaining the highest level of performance. The end result is a car that is more pleasurable to drive with precise shifts and predictable control.

Questions our customers have asked

Just seeing if you guys can give me a rough estimate time a shop would take to install these for both subframe and dif, ?
4.5 Hours labor is the standard,
The Z1 Urethane differential bushings are priced very competitively to perhaps the most popular aftermarket urethane option from the Whiteline series. My question is, what is the difference in material stiffness and ride quality between the two products? I have heard from other customers that the Whiteline model provides great comfort as well as noise-free operation. As someone who daily drives a 2004 350Z, these attributes are among my top priorities when selecting an upgrade. Do the Z1 bushings tend to make any noise? Also, compared with the Whiteline bushings, is the Z1 option stiffer or softer? I don't mind a bit of extra stiffness so long as it doesn't add excessive noise or vibration. Thanks for your info.
Isaiah, We actually use a softer durometer bushing in our kit but with a fuller design that is slightly pre loaded when installed vs Whitelines harder bushing and pin holed spherical rear bushing design. From the driver seat our best drivers cannot differentiate between the Whiteline and Z1 diff bushings when installed. We hope this helps give you a bit more insight regarding these parts. Regards, The Z1 Team

Yes get the tool, it is worth it completely. I luckily had a friend that let me borrow his. There is a huge difference with throttle response at least for me in my 05 G35 6mt. Yes, it might be a little louder in the rear end at higher speeds, just turn on music and you won't notice it. The hardest part of the job was getting the main old bushing out of the subframe. This job took me 3 days because the tool broke several times, the hardened acme bolt snapped in half. SO this might be expected. Definitely use lubricant when taking out/putting in. When you're ready for the new bushings PUT THEM IN THE FREEZER before it makes it a lot easier. They go in firmly and then once they warm up it fits perfectly. Bushings- 10/10, Z1 removal tool- 5/10 (expect the bolt might snap) but it definitely made it alot easier.

My car feels completely solid now in the rear. I can take corners faster with less body movement. It’s not too stupid nor is it too soft polyurethane is a good neutral of stiff and soft just make sure you add lube when installing

Hardest part is getting the OEM POS subframe diff bushing out. We used a Snap-On air chisel and after 30 mins or so eventually it gave in. Might be better to drill around the bushing first to get the center out then worry about the metal collar. Use some grease before pushing the Z1 subframe bushing and collar in. Feelin good!

These bushings are legit! The factory ones are junk infinity should be embarrassed by them as they wear out too fast. These Z1 are amazing. Perfect for street while stiff enough for the track.

These diff bushings are GREAT. I got them installed nearly a year ago in April 2020, and since then, they have been great. The differential is "planted" in the subframe now. Power transfer is better too.

If these go bad, you're either doing some extreme driving, living in extreme climates, or are using your car as a bartering ram! These should be the last set you'll ever need to replace or buy! Great material and very precise, when it comes to fitment! 2002/2003 350z Touring

Definitely feel an improvement. This was done at the same time I replaced subframe bushings. I can honestly say that I have not noticed any drivetrain nvh increase. Just a sharper or a more direct feel when accelerating(on any vector). All in all a more secure feeling as you are more able to detect wheelspin, and easier to control said wheelspin.

Night and day better than stock, Low NVH and super easy to change now that the subframe bush is removed.

I highly recommend these bushes for track or street use. They are firm enough to give better response in the drive train and don't break down under heavy use like the factory units do. I have been running these bushes in my drift car for a while now and the performance is outstanding I have solid sub frame bushings and these diff bushes don't transfer any excess noise or harsh vibration from the drivetrain and you don't have to worry about the main rear bushing breaking down and leaking fluid everywhere like the factory unit. I would suggest that every 350Z owner purchase and install these. Having had experience with OEM and various other brands of diff bushes on the market over the years in my opinion these are the best.

Bought these and after install I can say, I don't know how I could ever drive my Z without this upgrade, just did the subframe collars and wow what a difference! Getting the motor and transmission mounts next, as I can imagine how much of an improvement they will make!

This is a must have makes the car put power down so much better. I did this along with the sub frame inserts and the wiggle under acceleration in the rear end is gone. There is a little more vibration but totally worth it for the driving experience.

10/10! These are great. I haven't found a bad product from Z1 yet! I decided to replace all 3 diff bushings with these after noticing the dreaded black tear of death coming from the stock bushing on my rear subframe. They are working great and certainly made the rear end feel much more planted and confidence inspiring. No more clunk in the drivetrain when going from coast to acceleration either. Before the rear end of the car would wiggle a bit during hard turns. It felt almost as it the sidewall of the tire was folding over or something... but that was obviously not the case. Now it performs perfectly. I don't have a huge knowledge or background in mechanics and this was definitely the biggest job I have taken on, but with the help of the instructions and a few youtube tutorials on how to get the bushings out (drill, burn, cut, hammer, repeat) I was able to do it by myself in my driveway. 2 people is helpful for lowering and raising the rear diff. Everything else can be done by one person with some simple tools and patience.... or just get a shop to do it and save yourself a few days and some busted knuckles.

2012 G37xS - 7AT - 53,421 miles Infiniti Factory Certified Technician I was experiencing vibrations at idle in drive, a significant delay transferring power at launch and even some delay between shifts. The rear bushing was not leaking yet however there was a good amount of play observed in all the rear differential bushings when brake torquing. Took a chance on this kit and was not disappointed. Vibrations at idle are gone. Launch is snappier and shifts feel more defined. No noticeable increase in NVH whatsoever. I do not usually install performance mods, however Infiniti does not sell these bushings separately from the rear $900 subframe. It made sense to replace these bushings with stiffer longer lasting polyurethane because they were bad after only 50k miles. These bushings work as advertised. The kit and even the install instructions are well thought out. Very happy with the result. Note: I will update this review after 10k miles with any noticeable increases in NVH and whether or not they will require periodic re-greasing.

Please don’t hesitate to purchase this bushing especially if your factory ones are done for. My G feels brand new again way more power transfer. Got myself the full set and couldn’t be more satisfied. Thanks Z1 just ordered the poly urethane motor mounts as well can’t wait

i bought these months ago but only just now got around to fitting them as i was put off by everything i keep reading about how hard they are to change, well just man up and do it, i did it on jack stands in my garage and i think my arms grew a few inches from pulling on the ratchet so hard to pull that dam old bushing sleeve out, i don't notice any more noise from the back end just more traction but i do have test pipes and a full fast intentions system so its hard to hear anything anyways

I recommend to change the rear end subframe bushings at the same time with the differential bushings and transmission bushing. It took me 4 hours to dismount the old bushings with the right tools. Suggestion : Go to your garage if your are not well equipped in tools. But at the end, my results on track is very convincing (-8,8 sec on a 2 miles track) just with those upgrade. Great job Z1. The oversteer is now in control.

I won't lie, the factory bushings suck to remove even with the proper tools hahaha, but this kit is well worth it. By far the most cost effective of the differential bushings. The main rearward bushings is very thick and has a lot of surface area in the subframe. the 370 has a steel rear subframe so I opted for the air hammer route, great for the front bushings not so much the main which basically exploded in my face when I started air hammering it, ew. If you plan to do this yourself, BUY THE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL TOOLS. The difference is immediate after installation. Less hesitation and shudder during clutch engagement, I was amazed to see the shudder/jerk from throttle lift during city driving was significantly reduced practically gone, the whole rear end of the car feels way more confident and stable. There is some added coarseness and vibration but it is to be expected when removing the goo filled mounts. its completely tolerable once you realize it's just normal and I say tolerable but its not even that bad. Strongly recommend to any real enthusiast, if you aren't a very experienced mechanic dont bother with these. Exhaust, bracing, differential all HAVE to come down and the diff is heavy! very awkward to remove by yourself. I also live in NH so corrosion can be an issue for bushing removal, it may be significantly easier for people in southern states.

2011 Non-Sport 370Z @ 63,000 miles - replaced all 3 (including main faulty) Rear Differential bushings with these and my Z feels like new during launch and downshifting! Immediately noticeable difference. Absolutely recommended if you are experiencing a significant amount of rocking or the noticeable 'wheel-hop'. Nissan Service Center installed the parts and stated the original bushing was tough to remove but would have been much more difficult without the removal tool, which I also recommend. Thank you Z1 Motorsports!

So I will say this.... this bushing set makes such a beautiful difference! Deffinitely an amazing upgrade... No more Wheel hop is accurate but also a lot more crisp shifting with a huge improvement in feel when launching, could have ordered from plenty of other companies but Z1 is offering newer technology with a lot of R&D in a product that works!
