Product Description

Z1's Q60 / Q50 Solid Steering Rack Bushings improve driver feedback and steering feel by replacing the rubber bushings that mount the rack to the car. Doing this secures the steering rack to the subframe without the use of soft bushings, allowing the car to communicate better with the driver during hard corners. Additionally, this holds the rack in position and prevents side-to-side slip, commonly seen with worn rubber bushings.

Why would I want solid bushings?

Communication is key. Your car's steering rack is mounted to the subframe using soft rubber bushings. This is designed to cushion vibrations and maintain comfort when driving your car, but inherently reduces driver feel as it absorbs vibrations transferred through the rack. This can contribute to a "disconnected" feeling as the driver gains less feedback from the front tires. In addition, worn rubber mounts can introduce lateral movement leading to a reduction in steering response.

Z1's Steering Rack Bushings provide a permanent solution for both of these problems by replacing your worn rubber bushings with precision machined 6061 aluminum bushings, improving communication and making your car feel more agile and responsive.

Suspension tuning tip: Cornering forces create flex in rubber bushings that induce understeer. This is called compliance steer, and it's done by design. This is intended to help passenger vehicles maintain stability and control in heavy cornering situations (so you don't overcook it on an on-ramp with your family in the car). Installing solid steering rack bushings along with solid control arm bushings and front upper control arms eliminates these built-in protections and puts more control in the driver's hands. For drifters and road racers who are looking to extract the most control possible from their car, this is an ideal upgrade.

  • Constructed from 6061 billet aluminum

  • Eliminates lateral rack movement
  • Direct replacement for OE bushings

The steering feels much more responsive that OEM, just one slight turn of the wheel and the car wants to immediately turn. Car also feels a lil more planted, and it might be in my head but also the turning radius feels a lil shorter. Now for the install part, don't do this job yourself if you don't have the experience but mainly tools for it. You'll need a ratchet that can articulate, a wrench that has a slight bend as well and patience to put that bushing in. Removal of everything was pretty simple, even the OEM bushings, it was a max of 20 mins. But to put that new bushing in they give you a bolt and a nut to use, but have at least 1 o 2 extra because that bolt and nut would get really hot and you'll probably eat the whole thread, making it hard to remove after, or eat the nut or bolt, or both, or all 3 at the same time, have a mallet ready just in case too. Take it easy when impacting the bolt, I tried to speed up the process by giving more ugga duggas than I should've as it was getting late lol.

This a Great product if i am being honest I just got them installed by a shop. I tried to do it myself but it is some what tedious and you will need an alignment afterwards. You can definitely feel the difference in the steering as It feels more connected if you have the time and cash definitely install these its a small upgrade if not paired with the rest of the recommend products but even then you'll notice the difference.
