The newly developed two-piece piston allows for increased stroke and connecting rod length while maintaining the same block height. The 3.0L-specific crankshaft is a full counter-steel design machined from nitrided steel, and its surface hardness has been maximized through ion nitriding treatment, improving its fatigue strength. To accommodate increased torque, a special I-beam connecting rod was adopted, improving buckling strength by 36%. Additionally, a thicker piston pin was used.
