This Morimoto OE Matsushita Headlight HID Ballast is the unit used from the factory on all HID equipped 2005+ Nissan and Infiniti models. This replacement ballast is designed to meet/exceed all OE specifications and will be a direct replacement for the factory unit. It is not OEM but fits and functions identically for a fraction of the price!
Most headlight ballasts and bulbs are rated at 2000 hours of run time and if one just went out, chances are the others aren't far behind. Save yourself the hassle of taking off the bumper again, removing the headlamp, and just replace everything at the same time!
The headlight ballast found on all HID equipped models is responsible for converting DC to AC current, and regulates current output to the HID bulb through the attached ignitor. Because these are mounted to the bottom of the headlamp assembly, they are susceptible to wear from water, foreign object damage, and stress from constant operation. When they ballasts or attached ignitors fail, the headlamps may operate dim, flicker, or fail to function at all.
Certain makes and models may use different OEM HID ballasts depending on the production date and/or trim level. It is always best to double check and match the part used on your actual vehicle to ensure compatibility.
These Matsushita Gen V ballasts do not include replacement ignitors. These will be reused from your existing ballasts or purchased new.
NOTE: This ballast is the most current model offered by Panasonic and used by Nissan on all 2011+ Z and G models. While it may vary in design visually, the function and fit is the same on all 2005+ headlights. These ballasts offer greater reliability and offer a faster start up times than the earlier model factory equipped Panasonic/Matsushita headlight ballasts.
