Why do you need them?
When braking hard, brake pad temperatures can rise dramatically. That heat doesn't stay in the rotor and pad—it transfers into the caliper, brake fluid, seals, and other brake components. Excessive heat can contribute to brake fade, reduced pedal feel, accelerated wear of caliper seals, and increased brake fluid temperatures.
Installed between the brake pad backing plate and caliper pistons, Z1 Titanium Brake Pad Shims act as a thermal barrier, helping limit the amount of heat transferred into the caliper assembly.
