Coolant Pump Upgrade
The Z1 Coolant Pump Upgrade Kit for VR30-powered Infiniti Q50 and Q60 vehicles is designed to provide more coolant flow through the factory water-to-air charge air coolers, for both non-Red Sport and Red Sport models. By increasing coolant flow, charge air temperatures are reduced leading to more consistent power delivery.
When installed with a Z1 Heat Exchanger, you can expect to see an 82% increase in flow on non-Red Sport models and 35% on Red Sports models. This is a HUGE advantage for non-RS owners while providing an upgrade for the Red Sport owners as well. This increase in flow comes from the installation of our massive auxiliary pump and with the help of our specially designed pump controller, is a complete plug-and-play installation with no cutting or splicing required.
Performance Heat Exchanger
The increased size of Z1's Performance Heat Exchanger dramatically improves the flow rate of the coolant, increasing efficiency and reducing stress on the coolant pump(s). In addition, the core thickness was doubled from 11mm to 22mm and the surface area was increased by over 200% to help dissipate heat quicker. High-capacity aluminum end tanks are welded to both ends of the core, providing an exceptional increase in cooling capacity and further increasing the thermal capacity of the system. Combining these benefits into one convenient package means your car will be able to maintain a higher level of performance for LONGER, no matter the conditions!
This performance heat exchanger is a direct replacement for the OE unit, requiring no modifications to the car or cooling system to install. To aid in the installation and bleeding process, an air bleed screw was added to the top of the end tank to ensure a proper air bleed can be performed. This is essential to maximizing the performance of your intercooler's coolant system!
Auxiliary Coolant Tank
The Z1 Auxiliary Coolant Tank increases the system's coolant capacity by 221%, from just 0.84 gallons of coolant to nearly 2.7! This additional coolant increases the thermal capacity of the system. The greater volume of coolant takes longer to heat up, keeping charge air temperatures lower for longer. This helps the system maintain lower and more stable temperatures for consistent power delivery.
Like the heat exchanger, a bleed port has been added to the top of the tank to ensure air has been properly bled from the system after installation. Ensuring air is completely bled from the cooling system is essential to maximizing the performance of your intercooler's coolant system!
The image above illustrates the difference in charge air temperatures measured over multiple consecutive pulls. Each pull shows a gradual increase in charge air temperatures, however, the car with the Z1 Heat Exchanger installed shows consistently lower temperatures. When combining the Z1 Heat Exchanger with a Z1 Auxiliary Intercooler Tank we see even greater performance!
