Z1's Auxiliary Coolant Tank for the Infiniti Q60 increases the water-to-air intercooler's coolant system capacity by 1.86 gallons. This improves the effectiveness of the intercoolers by aiding in the reduction of intercooler temperatures, resulting in increased horsepower and greater IAT consistency when running your Q hard for extended periods.
How does it work? Heat is the adversary to horsepower, and Nissan's twin-turbo VR30 engine is no stranger to heat. On the 3.0t engine, the twin Garrett turbochargers feed two water-to-air intercoolers. These intercoolers have their own independent coolant system that's sole purpose is to maintain consistent charge air temperatures. Cars that are driven hard or have higher levels of tune generate more heat than the stock system is designed to handle, resulting in higher than normal intercooler temperatures. As intercooler temperatures rise so do charge air temperatures, resulting in reduced engine performance.
The Z1 Auxiliary Coolant Tank increases the system's coolant capacity by 221%, from just 0.84 gallons of coolant to 2.7! This additional coolant increases the thermal capacity of the system. The greater volume of coolant takes longer to heat up, keeping charge air temperatures lower for longer. This helps the system maintain lower and more stable temperatures for consistent power delivery.
