Z1 Clutch Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) Elimination Kit

starstarstarstarstar_half 4.8/5 - (19 Reviews)
Fits models: 350Z / 370Z / G35 / G37

Product Description

Z1 Motorsports is now proud to offer a comprehensive, bolt on solution to the OEM clutch concentric slave cylinder for cars equipped with manual transmissions mated to VQ35HR and VQ37VHR engines. Thorough analysis and modeling of the factory clutch system's dynamics led to the development of an innovative kit that completely eliminates the failure-prone concentric unit, replacing it instead with a traditional release bearing mated to a Howe Racing pull-type slave cylinder.
Due to the repeated exposure to high temperatures and the high operating pressure of the factory concentric system, it has been considered a weak point of the HR+ platform’s revised drivetrain. These failures are definite and the symptoms are obvious; whether it’s pushing the limits on the track, driving hard on backroads, or simply commuting – if the clutch pedal sinks to the floor during a shift and doesn’t return, the concentric slave cylinder is the likely culprit.
Armed with an extensive list of design goals, product requirements, and functional benchmarks, the only solution was a no compromises approach. The Z1 Motorsports Concentric Slave Cylinder Elimination Kit has been extensively torture tested on the street and the track with Z1 Motorsports' GTA 370z and Spec Z Nismo 350z, and is completely CAD/CAM engineered as a bolt on solution to common clutch concentric slave cylinder failures, with no permanent modification to the drivetrain.
Standard VQHR+ CSCEK features:

Howe Racing Pull-type Cylinder:
Constructed of lightweight CNC machined aluminum and hard anodized black, this pull-type slave cylinder uses two dynamic bore seals, a preloaded return spring, and features zinc coated hardware and rod ends for seamless function and maximized longevity.

Dust and Heat Shields:
Laser cut from stainless steel and precision CNC bended to specification, these auxiliary brackets are included for the peace of mind and reliability that comes from keeping dust and dirt out of the bellhousing and keeping road debris and exhaust heat away from the slave cylinder.

Mounting Solutions:
Laser cut and CNC formed and machined, the mounting bracket and fork clevis were designed with the explicit goal of function. Several iterations of optimizing for stiffness and fatigue life resulted in the final revision, that features Class 8.8 zinc plated fasteners and no unwanted deflection.

Clutch Ergonomics:
Paired with the late-model heavy duty cast fork and a braided stainless steel clutch line, a properly installed and adjusted VQHR+ CSCEK will feel natural with virtually no slop even under the most rigorous situations.

Inspected, assembled, re-inspected and packaged in house by Z1 Motorsports’ trained staff, the VQHR+ CSCEK arrives ready to install on your Z or G out of the box. In the dropdowns below, indicate the clutch that will be used, as well as the 500mL clutch fluid option (additional fluid available).  Transmission fluid replacement is recommended but not mandatory for the installation of this kit. Also available for the hard-core track enthusiast is a spare Howe Racing slave cylinder, available for separate purchase HERE.

Strongly Recommended: Please view a complete copy of the Installation Manual for the Z1 Motorsports Concentric Slave Cylinder Elimination Kit, PDF Installation Manual document available for download HERE. Proper installation and adjustment of this kit will require end-user mechanical aptitude. Because of the very narrow window in which this product was designed to function as a bolt on solution, this product may require adjustment through the life of the clutch.

This kit can be used with Spec Twin Disc Clutches however their design has been revised over time and we need more information about your specific clutch kit. Please call in with your order to ensure you get the proper components.

Z1 HIGHLY recommends replacing the Clutch Master Cylinder along with the CSC Elimination Kit due to the hydraulic fluid being contaminated from a failed or faulty CSC. If the master cylinder is not replaced, expect to replace it and the slave cylinder soon after installation.

Questions our customers have asked

Does this kit work with a stock 2009 370Z motor and transition?
Yes it can be installed with the factory engine and transmission. It can work with aftermarket or OEM clutch and Flywheel.
Hello, Im going to purchase this kit from you.. But have one question. I'm currently running the oem clutch and flywheel but want to go with the OS Gilken heavy duty clutch in the future, will this kit work with both OEM and the OS Gilken?? Cheers Blake
Yes this will work with the OS Giken but you will need a different throw out bearing at that time. We can supply that when needed.
Will this fit 2005 350z
The 2005 350Z already has an external clutch slave cylinder, this is not necessary on your year and will not fit.
Regarding maintenance; when and what do i need to do for maintenance on this kit? I purchased the car with this already installed. Love it, but need to maintain it. I have 6000 miles on it and only had fork? greased and i lubed cable. Thanks
On average we see adjustment for street cars being needed about once every 10,000 miles. If the correct grease was used during install it should last the life of the clutch. We would bleed and flush the system each year as a preventative maintenance.
Does this kit fit a right hand drive 2011 370z with no issues or modifications other than what is already required ?
Joey, Yes this will bolt right up.

The kit came with some legit parts. Was not easy!!! Luckily I have a mechanic buddy who is a car guru but he said the work was easily $1000 in labor. The travel feels extremely different from stock. The pedal sits much lower than on the stock CSC. The retro fit also made my ACT STAGE 2 feel like a stage up. Not sure if the pedals supposed to be that low, interested to hear others experiences. Overall though, good parts, car pulls hard, and best of all no more god d*** CSC.

Great kit easy to install but the slave started to leak after about 3 days so I had to take it apart and rebuild it but other than that it is a pretty good kit

Did on my 2019 370z I like the feel. Decided to do it while we replaced the clutch to an OS giken Str2cd clutch. Feels nice. Good action and good peace of mind knowing it’s done. One of those upgrades you just gotta suck it up and get done.

Very happy with this part and definitely recommend it. Do not install a new clutch kit without it! I also recommend using a z car shop as the shop I go to does not specialize in Nissan of any make and it took them a good amount of time to install, due to never having installed the kit before. The clutch pedal does get heavier than stock by a noticeable amount. I installed with the street clutch kit from z1 and in my opinion would probably go better with a heavier duty clutch like a stage 1 or 2. Do not keep replacing your csc! Delete it!

Super nice kit that works extremely well. I will say that it is a little tricky to fully bleed. The install is also not for the inexperienced. And youtube is not a substitute for experience. It is tricky to install correctly and you really have to have your head screwed on to get it right. The instructions are clear and concise so follow them and you will be golden. The clutch pedal feel is immense and I do not regret this purchase at all. I 100% recommend getting this kit or one like it for your HR or VHR.

Peace of mind is invaluable, so knowing I never have to drop the transmission again thanks to this kit is amazing. It was my first time pulling a tranny out of any car ever. Z1 made the installation of this kit extremely easy thanks to their detailed instructions. Also, there are a couple YouTube videos that go extremely in-depth that made my life so much easier.

So far so good. The clutch grabs like a beast! I can finally drive and use all of the stock power with no slip. Would suggest this item to all 370 Z owners.

Man am I glad I found this kit. I had help replacing the failed factory part (my 2010 370Z only had 22k miles on it). The retired military airplane mechanic with 35+ years experience told me he was extremely impressed with the design and quality of all the parts in the kit. After completing the installation and dialing in the throw, the car shifts flawlessly now. Thanks Z1.

After the CSC on my 09 z34 went out, I was recommended to check out the Z1 Elimination kit. Installation was fairly easy and the clutch feel is much better after installation. I would definitely recommend for anyone who's looking to get rid of their CSC completely but would also recommend having a copy of the factory service manual handy because the instructions reference it quite a bit.

Great product!! difference in clutch feel over Hydraulic Slave is night and day. I prefer this kit over the HD CSC, I daily drive my car but also track it from time to time. After dealing with many clutch hydraulic system issues and dropping the tranny a few times John from Z1 recommended this kit. Install was flawless, and now if you ever break the CSC while having some fun(very hard to do on N/A motor) you don't have to drop the tranny every time, which is time consuming and costly. Adjustments throughout life of the clutch are cake, and are just like any pull/fork type clutch system with an external slave. *Note: The feel of the clutch/pedal is a lot more precise and also a LOT firmer(feels like a Stage III clutch). If you prefer a little more ease/assist with depressing clutch pedal I recommend the installing a softer clutch pedal assist spring. $12 spring that is 52lbs as opposed to the over compensating factory clutch pedal assist spring which is 552lbs...of which you remove with this elimination kit
