Z1 Motorsports 370Z/G37 Power Steering Cooler Upgrade Kit for all '08+ Infiniti G37 and '09+ Nissan 370Z models.
Located just in front of the Radiator assembly, the Power Steering Cooler helps keep the power steering fluid's temperature under control. Like any other lubricant on a vehicle, the Power Steering Fluid serves two vital purposes.
- Lubricate the steering components and bearings.
- COOL THE VARIOUS COMPONENTS...including the bearings and seals in the pump and power steering rack.
Your Z or G is equipped with a factory tube and fin-style power steering cooler. This cooler works well in light duty street applications however in demanding applications such as forced induction equipped vehicles and those engaging in track events the factory cooler isn't quite large enough to manage the extra heat. When pushed hard the power steering fluid can reach a critical temperature where the fluid will boil. Power steering fluid that has reached its boiling point will lose much of its lubrication and cooling ability, leading to accelerated wear of the power steering pump and rack & pinion. Once the fluid has reached the point of boiling, the fluid must be flushed and changed.
Z1's Power Steering Cooler replaces the small factory cooler with a higher-performing Z1 ProCooler or Setrab oil cooler core, much like the one used in our Engine Oil Cooler Kit. In addition to the increased cooling performance, these cores have proven themselves as the most durable oil coolers available. Building upon the superior, Setrab Oil Cooler's design, the Z1 Motorsports Power Steering Cooler features a 100% bolt-on installation requiring no modification, drilling or cutting of the vehicle to perform the installation. The Z1 Motorsports Power Steering Cooler's installation kit allows for a low-profile install, allowing for adequate room for intercoolers, etc.
Please note:
By removing the factory power steering cooler, you will need to replace whatever fluid is lost. In addition, the increased volume of the Setrab Power Steering Cooler will require additional fluid as well. Z1 Motorsports recommends using of either the Factory Nissan or Redline Power Steering fluid, available separately.
