Z1 G35 Hood Strut Kit

Install was easy. So glad to get rid of that annoying rod. Unlatch and open the hood up and it's done. Hydraulic rods have good holding strength, tested in 35mph winds while doing maintenance. Excellent product!

Love this kit makes things alot easier to work under the hood and don't have to worry about the kick stand anymore

Be careful installing and test test test. Can mess up fenders and stuff if not put on correct. But once one is cool and nice to have instead of having the stand all the time in the way

Fit perfectly on my G35! Just had to trim the battery and brake cover a little to make clearance.

I like them, they are strong hold really good and best of all is that the metal bar is not in my way any more

Here’s my review on the hood struts from Z1: Installation: it was really easy to install. It took no more than 15 minutes to put on with a couple of hand tools. Nothing fancy needed to install these things. As always, make sure the hood doesn’t rub against the fender when closing. Build quality: it seems to made of good quality materials, doesn’t feel cheap or anything. I haven’t seen any other strut kits for the G35 so this being the first one I’ve seen, they did well. Functionality: well, it does what it’s supposed to do. It’s supposed to replace the use of the stick that holds the hood. Makes the appearance look more clean as well. So with those with show worthy engine bays: get it. You won’t regret it. It also makes servicing any engine related things a bit easier as well as there isn’t a stick in the way. Longevity: well, I’ve only had this for a couple of days at the time of this review, so I’ll have to see how long these will last for. They do come with a 1 year warranty however in case if something fails (which seems unlikely) Overall: I think it was worth purchasing the item. It does what it’s supposed to do and wasn’t made with cheap materials. Not going to lie, I wished it raised the hood a bit higher than it’s stock height with the stick but oh well. I installed this on my ‘04 G35 coupe with an OEM hood. I am not so sure how this will do with a carbon fiber hood or a fiber glass hood. So don’t take this review too seriously if you have something aftermarket. I’m not sure how that will perform. Regardless, nice one Z1!

First impressions are great. Installation is really easy, the build quality of all the parts feels solid, the struts are plenty strong, it improves the look of the engine bay once I removed the old bar and it’s pieces, and the hood opens a little bit higher than it used to. There’s no way to know the longevity right now since this kit has been out for less than a week as I write this.
